Laura Martin is an alumni of The University of Alabama in Huntsville, graduating with her BA in English and Theatre in 2018 and her MA in English in 2022. While attending UAH, Laura worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant: she taught and tutored Freshman Composition for two years. Laura’s studies centered on Shakespeare, Performance Arts, Women & Gender Studies, and Composition. Throughout her educational career, Laura worked in a variety of fields, from food service to management, but her time as an educator was the most fulfilling of them all. She has seamlessly married her experience in the collegiate classroom with working with younger learners. Due to her time in the university classroom, she understands where learners are ultimately going and what they need to know to be successful once they get there. The Learning Team staff and students treasure Laura’s expertise with English and Theatre.

Outside of work, Laura is active in the theatre community as an actor and stage manager. Following the completion of her degrees, she still works with UAH Theatre, as well as the Huntsville Shakespeare, and The Blue Melody Dinner Theatre. She is always looking to incorporate theatre practices in the English classroom. She understands that many students internalize learning when the performative in incorporated into the process. Laura’s love of English and Theatre are apparent in her work both inside and outside the classroom. Laura lives in Meridianville with her husband, their cats Amie & Bella, and their dogs Ruka & Poppy. Laura’s greatest passion is the pursuit of knowledge and experience. In her free time, Laura can be found curled up with a good book and a hot cup of tea or exploring the North Alabama area with her friends.
