Tara Slay has a strong desire to help others that has been a constant throughout her professional life. An Alabama native, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Athens State University. During this time, she also worked as a receptionist for an attorney’s office.

However, she did not stop her pursuit of learning how to help others with this first degree. She went on to earn her Master’s in School Counseling from Jacksonville State University. She completed her practicum and internships at multiple local schools, including DAR Elementary, Hampton Cove Middle, DAR Middle, and DAR High School.

Tara brings her counseling expertise to the team. She meets with students who need counseling for social and emotional issues, academic planning, or application assistance. This counseling experience makes her a unique and vital member of The Learning Team. Beyond counseling, she can also help students needing help in reading, writing, English, and the social sciences.

When not working with students, Tara Slay enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and traveling the world.  So far, she has visited such locales as Italy, Germany, Greece, Mexico, and the Bahamas. She is looking forward to adding to this list with her husband and son.
