Latham Thurber grew up in North Alabama and graduated from Randolph School. It was actually at Randolph where she met her husband, Jon. She attended Auburn University from 1987-1989 and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Psychology.

Latham Thurber taught second and third grade in Huntsville City Schools from 1993-1995 before raising her three daughters. Latham continued working with children as a Sunday School teacher and youth advisor at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

In 2003 Latham’s daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia and attended Greengate School for two years before returning to Randolph. After witnessing her own daughter’s struggles, Latham knew she wanted to work with children who struggled with language arts and reading. Latham served on the Greengate’s Board of Directors from 2003-2005 and again in 2018 when Greengate merged with Randolph School. She attained her Orton Gillingham training in 2018. Latham tutored for Greengate School from February 2019 – May 2020.
